How often should you water your mint?

Mint grows well in a warm and humid environment. In summer, the weather is hot and the water evaporates quickly, so it needs to be watered once a day. In winter, the frequency of watering the mint needs to be controlled. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering the plant to avoid water accumulation in the soil, which can cause the mint to rot. When watering, try to use river water or rainwater, which is more in line with the growth needs of mint.

Mint watering method

1. Water according to the environment : When growing mint, if it is placed outdoors in a sunny place, the temperature is high in summer, and water will be absorbed faster. Water it once in the morning and once in the evening to avoid death from thirst due to lack of water.

2. Watering in winter : The temperature is lower in winter, the mint's absorption capacity will decrease, and evaporation will be less. At this time, there is almost no need to water it. As long as the potting soil is not dry, you can ignore it and wait until the sprouts in the spring of next year to manage it.

Mint watering precautions

1. Concentrate watering in the middle period : For mint planted in the ground, watering is mainly concentrated in the early and middle periods. This can promote root growth and make the branches and leaves more luxuriant. In the later period, watering should be reduced to prevent the plant from growing wildly.

2. Watering interval : Due to differences in environment and climate, there is generally no fixed interval for watering mint. Ground-planted mint is often watered once every 15 days or so. If the soil is relatively moist, the watering interval can be extended. If it is dry, water it in advance.

What to do if you overwater your mint

You can cut off a few old leaves, loosen the soil immediately, put it in a ventilated place, let the soil dry as soon as possible, do not water it, and spray the leaves several times to protect the remaining leaves and prevent them from burning. If the roots are not severely damaged, they can still be saved.
