How many years does it take for longan to bear fruit?

Introduction to planting longan

Longan is made from fresh lychees that are dried in the sun. Longan is more commonly called longan in the south, while longan is more commonly called guiyuan in the Central Plains and the north. Most of them are produced in Guangxi (Gui).

Longan planting results after several years

After the longan tree is planted, it needs to be cared for for 3-4 years before it can bear fruit. If it is carefully cared for, it will form an early-fruiting and high-yielding crown and a developed root system. It will begin to bear a small amount of fruit, and after about 4-5 years it will enter a high-yield period, which can last up to 20-30 years.

Grafted longan blooms and bears fruit

After grafting, longan will bloom and bear fruit after 3-4 years of care. During the seedling stage, the nutritional growth should be properly controlled to allow it to bear an appropriate amount of fruit, while also promoting the continued development and expansion of the crown and root system.

Potted longan fruiting

Whether potted longan will bear fruit depends on the planting method. The reason for not bearing fruit may be that after potting, the ability to absorb water and nutrients decreases, and the maintenance environment is dark, which may easily lead to problems such as weak tree vigor, slow growth and no fruiting.

Why don't longans bear fruit?

There are many reasons why longan does not bear fruit, and they need to be analyzed from different aspects. For example, there are differences in longan varieties. Some varieties are not suitable for local cultivation, so it is difficult or even impossible to bear fruit.

The second is improper maintenance at ordinary times, such as unreasonable pruning of branches and leaves, scientific management of water and fertilizer, inter-row cultivation, weeding and loosening of soil, and failure to prevent and control diseases and pests.
