How to grow cyclamen at home

How to grow cyclamen at home

1. Soil

When breeding, you must ensure that the soil is breathable, loose, has good drainage properties, and is neutral. Such a soil environment is more conducive to growth, and later management will be more convenient and worry-free.

2. Fertilization

Normally, you don't need to apply too much fertilizer or too frequently. The demand for fertilizer is not very large. It is sufficient to apply compound fertilizer once in the spring and autumn growing seasons. Note that the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be reduced during the flowering period to avoid excessive growth of branches and leaves, which will affect flowering and cause the flowers to wither prematurely.

3. Temperature

Cyclamen likes a warm environment, and it is best to provide it with a temperature between 10 and 20 degrees. The cold resistance of the plant is relatively poor. If the temperature is below 5 degrees, the growth rate of the plant will slow down, so temperature control must be carried out in winter. Of course, the temperature cannot be too high. If it is above 35 degrees, the plants will easily rot. In summer, more ventilation and cooling are needed.

4. Lighting

When caring for it at home, whether you place it indoors or outdoors, you must let it get more sunlight. It likes light, and lack of light will affect flowering. However, the light in summer is very strong, so you should avoid direct sunlight.

5. Pests and diseases

If the environment is not suitable during management, it is very easy to be infected by diseases and pests. When discovered, measures must be taken to treat it, and the maintenance methods must be changed. Ventilate more and avoid creating a stuffy environment.
