How many years does it take for jackfruit to bear fruit?

Introduction to Jackfruit Planting

Jackfruit is suitable for growing in a high temperature, humid and frost-free environment. It is suitable for growing in areas with an annual average temperature above 22-24 degrees, the average temperature of the coldest month above 12 degrees, the absolute low temperature above 0 degrees, the accumulated temperature above 7500 degrees, and an annual rainfall of 1200 to 1800 mm.

Jackfruit is planted from October to November every year in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi (Bobai, Luchuan, Longzhou, Ningming, Longan, Jingxi, Baise, Napo and Tiandong counties), Fujian and Yunnan in China.

Jackfruit planting results after several years

It takes 6-8 years for a Jackfruit tree to bear fruit, and 30 years to reach peak fruit-bearing period. The tree blooms in early spring from February to March, and the fruit ripens in July to August. In some places, it can bloom and ripen twice a year.

Jackfruit is suitable for planting in deep, fertile and well-drained areas, with a spacing of 8-10 meters between rows and plants. The planted seedlings need to be transplanted with a soil ball because of their long taproots and few lateral roots. This way the survival rate will be higher. When the seedlings are 40-50 cm tall, they can be planted at any time.

Grafted jackfruit blooms and bears fruit

It usually takes 3-5 years for a jackfruit seedling to bear fruit. As a tropical fruit, it can be divided into grafted or seedlings. Grafted jackfruits take 5 years to start bearing fruit.

Potted Jackfruit Fruit

It usually takes 3-5 years for potted jackfruit seedlings to bear fruit, while seedlings will take 8-10 years to bear fruit.

Why doesn't jackfruit bear fruit?

The reason why jackfruit does not bear fruit may be that the tree lacks nutrients, the tree grows too vigorously causing the leaves to be dense, or the climatic conditions and growth environment are not suitable for its growth.

Key points for high-yield planting of jackfruit

Jackfruit likes high temperature environment and is not resistant to low temperature. It cannot be planted in frost areas. In addition, warming measures need to be taken in low temperature environments. It likes a humid environment and needs to be watered frequently during the growth period to keep the soil moist, but water accumulation is not allowed, otherwise the roots will rot and affect the fruit setting rate.
