How to save seeds of Qingming vegetables and how to collect seeds

Qingming vegetable seeds

After the seeds of Qingmingcai are dried, they can be stored until the next year for use. Its seeds can be stored for more than one year, but the vitality of the seeds will decrease after one year. Qingmingcai can keep the seeds for itself, which need to be rubbed from the fruit sequence.

Qingming vegetable collection seeds

When the inflorescence of Qingmingcai changes from yellow to yellow-white in autumn, you can cut the fruit clusters, dry them in the sun, rub out the seeds, and store them after drying for later use. It is best to sow them as soon as they are harvested. If the storage period exceeds 1 year, it will be difficult for them to germinate.

Preservation of Qingmingcai seeds

1. In order to extend the storage period of Qingming vegetable seeds, the seeds must be fully dried. If the water content is high, the enzymes in the seeds will accelerate the decomposition of nutrients in the seeds and carry out stronger respiration, causing the seeds to heat up and mold, resulting in a decrease in seed vitality.

2. The air humidity directly affects the water content of the seeds themselves. The water content of various Qingming vegetable seeds will increase with the increase of air humidity.

3. Temperature is one of the most critical factors affecting seed storage. The lower the temperature, the weaker the seed respiration, the less nutrients consumed, and the longer the storage time. At the same time, low temperature can also inhibit the activity of microorganisms on the surface of seeds, reduce heat, and prevent mildew.

Qingming vegetable seed planting

1. Qingmingcai has a wide adaptability to the environment and is commonly found in fields, ridges, wastelands, wet grasslands beside roadsides, ditches and river banks. It is suitable for sowing in spring and autumn when the temperature and humidity are suitable, and it can grow quickly.

2. Qingmingcai seeds are not resistant to high temperature environments and are suitable for sowing in spring. In the south, they can be sown in February. In areas with frost, they can be sown in the open field after the last frost, or they can be sown in March or April. A layer of plastic film needs to be covered on top to keep warm.

3. Qingming vegetables prefer moist, well-drained fertile land. When planting, it is advisable to choose fields with convenient irrigation, or the edge of the vegetable garden, dig shallow trenches with a row spacing of 10 cm, and sow the seeds evenly on the soil. After sowing, do not cover the soil, just cover with a layer of plastic film.
