When to plant red beans in autumn

It is generally recommended to plant red beans in mid-October. Seed selection is very important in autumn planting. Choosing excellent varieties is conducive to the healthy growth, high quality and high yield of red beans. Therefore, when selecting seeds, you must carefully observe the appearance of the seeds and choose varieties with full grains and no diseases.

When to plant red beans in winter

Red beans can be planted in winter from December to January. Red beans have strong growth ability and do not have high requirements for soil. However, if you want to increase the yield, you still need to choose sandy soil with convenient drainage and irrigation, strong water and fertilizer retention capacity and humus.

Red bean planting method and steps

1. Choose varieties: Select red bean varieties with full grains, bright colors and strong disease resistance. Place the seeds outdoors in the sun for about 3 days. You can also mix the seeds with Shilinshen to reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests. After air-drying, prepare for sowing.

2. Land preparation and fertilization: Red beans have strong adaptability to soil, but it is best to plant them in sandy soil that is easy to drain and irrigate, has strong water and fertilizer retention capacity, and is rich in humus. Level the soil in advance, harrow it, make ridges and press it down, and apply sufficient decomposed farmyard manure and compound fertilizer.

3. Sowing time: Generally, you can choose to sow around May-June each year. You can cultivate in ridges with a plant spacing of 12 cm and a depth of no more than 4 cm. Control the sowing density and gently compact the soil after sowing.

4. Field management: When the first true leaf appears on red beans, thinning can be done, removing the weaker seedlings and retaining the vigorously growing seedlings. Cultivation and weeding can be carried out in time, and ridges can be made and soil can be built. When the field enters the early flowering period, topdressing with potassium dihydrogen phosphate and other agents can be used. Water should be applied appropriately according to soil conditions. No water accumulation should occur, and drainage is required during the rainy season.
