The growing environment and local conditions of lilies

Lily Growth Environment and Conditions

Lily grows in some temperate regions such as eastern Asia, North America and Europe. Its origin is in Japan, North Korea and China. It is more suitable for fertile and loose soil. The temperature in the growing area should not be too high, otherwise it may grow poorly.

Lilies are mainly produced in Hunan, Sichuan, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places. They are cultivated all over the country. In some areas, there are also wild varieties. Xiluo Township in Longshan County, Hunan Province, has the largest number of lilies planted and is known as the hometown of lilies.

Lily Growing Conditions

Lily is a short-day plant, and most of its varieties prefer a cool and humid growing environment. Therefore, lily also has a certain ability to resist cold. Its suitable temperature is between 13 and 17 degrees. It can grow normally even when the temperature in winter is 5 degrees. It also needs to be given a deep and well-drained soil.

Lily growth temperature

The growth temperature of lily is between 13-17℃. After it grows into seedlings, the temperature should not be lower than 11℃, otherwise its growth will be restricted. When it blooms, the temperature should be around 24-28℃ so that it can bloom better. If the temperature is higher than 33℃, it will dry up and turn yellow, and in severe cases it will wither and die.

Lily growth process

When the lily plant grows to 15cm, you can see flower buds emerging. As the buds grow bigger and bigger, move them to a place with better sunlight. After that, the buds will open one after another every day. After thirty or forty days, most of the flower buds will have opened.

Lily planting time and method

1. Early March of each spring is more suitable for planting lilies. The temperature during this period is very suitable, generally between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, neither too cold nor too hot. Planting lilies during this period can create a milder condition for seed germination, accelerate the growth of lilies, and have a better growth trend.

2. The suitable period for planting lilies in autumn is relatively long, from August to September every year. Because the temperature from August to September is generally between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, it can provide a mild condition for the seeds, making the seeds germinate faster and the germination rate will be higher. Therefore, you can choose to sow in this time period.

3. When planting lilies, you can apply base fertilizer to the soil, place the lily bulbs evenly in the pot, cover them with a layer of soil, place them in a scattered light environment and water them thoroughly. Add some rooting liquid when watering. When the soil in the pot is almost dry, water it thoroughly. The roots will grow well in about 10 days.

4. After the lily buds grow out and grow to about 5 to 10 centimeters, they must be exposed to sufficient light. In addition, they should be sprayed with dwarfing agent once every half a month, diluted with water at a ratio of 1:500, to promote dwarfing of the plant and quickly grow flower buds and bloom.
