Wolfberry Growth Environment and Conditions

Lycium barbarum is a positive plant, so it needs sufficient sunlight when growing. The intensity of light will directly affect its growth and development. It is native to Ningxia, Gansu and other places. It is more common in Zhongwei and Zhongning areas. It is also grown in Tianjin and Xinjiang.

Wolfberry Growth Conditions

Wolfberry prefers a warm growing environment, but it is relatively cold-resistant, so it can be grown in northern regions. It also has good drought resistance, so it can be grown in desert areas.

Wolfberry growth temperature

When planting wolfberry, the temperature needs to be kept between 4-12 degrees. In this way, its growth rate will be faster, and a larger temperature difference is required when the leaves are expanding to falling.

Wolfberry growth process

Wolfberry is usually propagated by cuttings in the spring, using mature branches. After planting, 2-3 new stems will sprout in the autumn, and then it will enter a large-scale vegetable production period until the frost in autumn. It will then overwinter and needs to be fertilized in the autumn of each year.

Time and method of planting wolfberry

Wolfberry has a strong adaptability and there is basically no need to consider the climate and environment when planting it. It can be sown in spring, summer and autumn, but spring is still the most suitable time for planting. Its seed planting requires deep plowing of the soil, then sowing the seeds into the dug shallow trenches and laying a greenhouse on them.
