How to grow lotus bamboo in water

How to grow lotus bamboo in water

1. Breeding conditions

1. Water quality

Hydroponic lotus bamboo requires clean, bacteria-free water. If it is mineral water, it can be used directly. If it is freshly tap water, it needs to be dried before use, because freshly tap water contains chlorine, which is not conducive to plant growth. After the plant has taken root, try to use tap water, because water contains a lot of nutrients, which is very helpful for its growth.

2. Lighting

Although it is not resistant to strong light, it also needs an appropriate amount of sunlight for normal metabolism. Especially for plants that are maintained indoors, make sure they get plenty of sunlight. Generally speaking, the light in the morning and afternoon is mild and can be exposed directly, but when the sun is strong at noon, shade is needed.

3. Change water

Before the roots grow out, you need to change the water more frequently because there are many bacteria in the water and it is easy to get infected. After it grows roots, you don't need to change the water, just add water. However, when adding water, the amount of water should not cover the roots. Half of it should be left in the air to facilitate its breathing.

4. Fertilization

Before the hydroponic lotus bamboo grows roots, no fertilizer is needed. After it grows roots, it needs to be fertilized once a month. Fertilization is done by putting liquid fertilizer into the water.

2. Breeding Methods

It can be cultivated through cuttings. Select healthy branches, insert them into water, and place them in a semi-shaded place for maintenance. It will grow roots in about a week. After the roots grow, you can continue to maintain them with water or plant them in the soil for maintenance.

3. Pest and disease control

Hydroponic plants are easily infected by insect pests. If you find any, you should use sterilization spirit to spray them. When spraying, you need to add water before use.
