What fertilizer is good for Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis should be applied with thin fertilizer, and its growth is slow, like fairy ball, it cannot be forced to promote the growth of Phalaenopsis by increasing the fertilizer concentration. If the fertilizer concentration is too high, it will cause root burning and seedling damage, but it will affect the growth of Phalaenopsis.

1. Phalaenopsis fertilizers can be Huaduoduo, Huabao, some Phalaenopsis-specific fertilizers or liquid fertilizers. If you pursue fertilizer efficiency, Huaduoduo or Huabao is recommended. During the growth period, balanced fertilizer with a N: P: K ratio of 20: 20: 20 is usually used, once every 7 to 10 days.

2. When the temperature is too low or too high, stop fertilizing. One month before flowering, the application of 15N:P:K:9:45:15 can basically make the flower arrow grow in about a month.

How to fertilize Phalaenopsis

There are two ways to fertilize Phalaenopsis: base fertilizer and foliar spraying. Base fertilizer is only suitable for repotting or changing planting materials. The most commonly used fertilization method is foliar spraying. Foliar spraying does not easily damage the roots, is well absorbed, and the effect is easy to see.

Spring fertilization

Apply a small amount of fertilizer to Phalaenopsis in spring, and stop fertilizing during the flowering period. When new buds and new roots grow after the flowering period, liquid fertilizer can be applied again. It can be applied once a week, or it can be sprayed on the leaves.

Fall Fertilization

After entering autumn, the temperature of Phalaenopsis gradually decreases and the growth of the plant begins to slow down. At this time, you should reduce fertilization, otherwise it will be detrimental to the growth of the plant.

Winter fertilization

The temperature is low in winter, the plants basically stop growing, and the roots cannot absorb nutrients, so you should stop fertilizing the plants at this time. If you continue to fertilize, the roots will burn.

Points to note when fertilizing Phalaenopsis

1. If the young leaves of Phalaenopsis are light yellow and the old leaves gradually turn dark yellow, you should stop watering and fertilizing, remove the plant from the pot and check the root system, trim off the bad roots, and then replant it.

2. When fertilizing Phalaenopsis, be careful not to put the fertilizer too close to the roots, otherwise it will easily burn the roots. Do not fertilize within one month of repotting. When using organic fertilizer, be sure to use fully decomposed organic fertilizer.

3. Phalaenopsis has relatively high requirements for light and prefers bright scattered light. When there is insufficient light for a long time or the light time is too short, the plant will show symptoms of slow growth or poor growth. Therefore, after fertilizing, in order to encourage it to absorb nutrients as quickly as possible, it should be placed under scattered light for maintenance.
