Peony is a perennial deciduous shrub. The best time to sow it is in autumn from August to September, when the climate is most suitable. It usually takes about 30 days to germinate after sowing, and the plant can live up to a hundred years.

How to plant peony seeds

1. Seed treatment: Before sowing, the peony seeds need to be processed to break their dormancy and soak them in warm water at 50°C to germinate.

2. Planting: Peonies like loose and fertile soil, which can be prepared with garden soil, leaf mold, and rice husk ash. Disinfect the soil before sowing, add some base fertilizer, and then sow the seeds into it.

The peony blooms from May to June, the fruit matures in August, and the seeds grow inside the fruit. The seeds can be obtained after removing the peel and pulp. After picking, they must be stored in alkaline sand immediately to prevent the seeds from shrinking, and can be stored in a low temperature place.
