Should I use a large or small pot for figs?

When planting figs, it is better to use a large pot. The space in a small pot is relatively small. If a small pot is used to grow figs, the growth space of the root system will be limited, and the branches and leaves on the ground will also be affected to a certain extent.

Growing environment: Figs prefer a warm and humid environment. The best growth temperature is generally around 20 degrees. The demand for water is not very high, and the water level should be controlled when watering.

Repotting time: Figs need to be repotted after 1 or 2 years of growth. Generally, they can be repotted in spring, autumn and dormant period, but the best time to repot is during the Qingming period in spring.

Should figs be grown in a deep or shallow pot?

Figs have good adaptability and are generally more suitable for deep pots when planted. Shallow pots cannot meet the needs of root growth. Figs grown in deep pots generally receive more water and nutrients.

Figs do not have very high requirements for the material of the flower pot. Generally, the air permeability and drainage of the flower pot are the first considerations. Usually, you can choose a clay pot or a ceramic pot for planting.

Fig repotting method

1. Remove from the basin

The amount of watering for figs can be controlled before removing them from the pot. When removing the figs from the pot, you can use a small shovel to shovel a circle along the edge of the pot. This will make it easier to remove the figs from the pot. Then, trim the roots well after removing them from the pot, and then disinfect and dry them before putting them into the pot.

2. Put it in the basin

When planting figs, you can choose a larger pot. Generally, the soil for planting should be loose and fertile. The soil can be made of leaf mold, garden soil, loam and sandy soil rich in substrate.
