Cultivation method of palm orchid

The palm orchid has a strong adaptability to the environment and is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. It is not resistant to direct sunlight and can be maintained in a semi-shaded environment. Maintain a good ventilation environment, spray water in time, and provide an environment with high humidity.

Watering method

Clivia likes a humid environment. When the temperature is high in summer, you need to water it in time to keep the soil moist, but do not water it excessively. If the soil in the pot is very wet, the roots will lack oxygen, leading to poor growth. The accumulated water needs to be removed in time during the rainy season.

Fertilization method

In addition to applying base fertilizer, palm orchids also need an appropriate amount of topdressing. The amount of topdressing and the ratio of fertilizer types should be changed according to the growth of the plant. It is best to apply topdressing in small amounts multiple times. The best time is before, at the beginning and in the middle of the rapid growth period, and apply thin fertilizers frequently.

Pruning methods

After the flowering period of the palm flower, you need to use sharp scissors to cut off the withered and dead flowers on the stem nodes. The yellow and aging stem nodes should also be cut off, and the 2-3 stem nodes under the dead flowers should be cut off.

Things to note when growing orchids

Clivia likes high air humidity and needs to be sprayed with water around the plant to keep it moist. Normally, water it when the substrate is about half dry. It can be repotted after flowering every year, and the cultivation materials should be replaced together. Repotting can be combined with division.
