Where do pumpkin seeds come from?

Most pumpkin seeds are long oval or oblong. Pumpkin seeds can be divided into three categories according to the maturity time of the pumpkin. The first category is early maturing type, represented by Ye'ersan pumpkin seeds and Miben pumpkin seeds. The second category is medium-early maturing type, represented by Zaozhuang pumpkin seeds. The third category is late maturing type, represented by Niutui pumpkin seeds.

You can save the seeds of pumpkins yourself. Take out the seeds of old pumpkins, wash them, dry them, put them in a paper bag, and store them in a ventilated and dry place.

Preserving Pumpkin Seeds

Wash the pumpkin seeds, remove the pulp, and place them in a well-ventilated, cool place to dry. Do not expose them to the sun, which will affect the germination rate.

The dried seeds can be placed in a breathable container, such as a cloth bag, a clay pot, etc., because the seeds are alive. Although their respiration is weak, they still need to breathe. The storage environment should be cool and dry, not humid, otherwise they will easily become moldy.

Pumpkin Seed Planting

Pumpkins should be sown in spring from January to March and in autumn from July to August. Choose high-yield, disease-resistant and stress-resistant high-quality seeds, loosen the soil, apply a certain amount of base fertilizer, and then plant the seeds in the soil. Water the planted seeds thoroughly in time and provide sufficient sunlight. Be careful not to expose them to strong light. During their growth, carry out artificial assisted pollination and spray pesticides in time to prevent diseases and pests.
