What are the cultivation methods and precautions of lemons?

Lemon cultivation method

Lemon prefers a warm growing environment and is generally suitable for growing in slightly acidic flower soil with a certain fertilizer retention ability. The annual average temperature suitable for its growth is 17-19℃, the average temperature in January is 6-8℃, and the lowest temperature it can tolerate is -3℃.

It is recommended to grow lemons in clay pots and a mixture of sand, garden soil and leaf mold. Water it more in summer, control the moisture in winter, and fertilize it during the growing season. In addition, before winter, it is best to cut off the old and weak branches, and then cut off the overly dense branches.

Watering method

Lemon trees require sufficient water supply to grow, especially in summer. You can water them more often without water accumulation, so as to replenish the water evaporated by the plants. However, in late autumn and winter, you should reduce the number of watering to avoid affecting the differentiation of flower buds.

Fertilization method

During the growing season, it is necessary to apply some thin fertilizer to the lemon frequently to provide nutrition and support its growth, but be careful not to apply it too frequently. It should be determined according to the growth of the plant. If it grows well, you can apply it more often, and if it grows poorly, you should apply it less often.

Pruning methods

The pruning time for lemon trees is generally before winter. At this time, its old and weak branches should be cut off, and then the dense flower branches should be cut off to ensure that it can safely survive the winter.

Lemon cultivation precautions

Since lemons require more nutrients to grow, most of the nutrients in the soil will be absorbed by them every 1-2 years. At this time, it is best to replace them with new soil with sufficient fertility to ensure better growth.
