Ginger is a condiment with a spicy taste. It usually grows underground, mostly on the edges of tropical evergreen rainforests. It has a certain shade tolerance and usually prefers to grow in warm and humid environments.

Ginger growth temperature

Ginger is not cold-resistant and is afraid of direct sunlight. Generally, the plant can germinate when the ambient temperature is above 16 degrees. The suitable growth temperature for ginger during the seedling stage is 20-25 degrees. When the stems and leaves begin to grow, the ambient temperature must be around 25-28 degrees.

Ginger growth humidity

During the growth process of ginger, in order to grow better, the humidity required for ginger growth needs to be determined according to the temperature at that time. Generally, when the ambient temperature is around 14 degrees, the humidity of the environment only needs to be 65%.

Ginger growing soil

Ginger does not have very high requirements for soil when planting. Generally, it is more suitable to be planted in deep, loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam during maintenance. It is more appropriate to choose a slope or shade-tolerant land for planting.

Ginger growth cycle and process

The growth cycle of ginger is relatively long. Generally, ginger will go through the stages of germination, seedling, growth and dormancy. The entire growth cycle is about 200 days. It can usually be harvested in summer every year, after which the rhizome will enter a dormant state.
