Teach you step by step how to make a succulent bird cage!

Prepare the Materials

1. Bird cage (iron products will rust over time, and they are prone to leaking after watering, so it is recommended to place them on the balcony or in the garden)

2. Dry sphagnum moss (I feel that I can do anything with it when growing succulents...)

3. Wire mesh (the main reason for using this is that the gaps in the bird cage are large, and even if sphagnum moss is used, it is easy to fall out. If there is no wire mesh, linen can also be used~)

4. Succulent plants of various colors (considering the current price of succulents, it is better to use the most common but most colorful and relatively cheap succulents, such as Ji Longyue, Black Prince, Zi Chi Lianhua, Blue Stone Lotus...)

Specific steps

The first step is to fill the bottom of the birdcage with chicken wire.

The second step is to soak the dry sphagnum moss, then take it out and spread it on the bottom of the birdcage. At this time, you can spread higher sphagnum moss in the center of the birdcage to facilitate three-dimensional planting later.

The third step is to plant all kinds of succulents. Once you have chosen the right color and shape, the planting process is very simple. You can plant them the way you like.

Step 4: Fill the gaps with some small succulents, such as David, Big Lady Star Beauty...

Post-management

If you are worried that the sphagnum moss will dry out too quickly, you can simply put all the bird cages in a basin filled with water and soak them for half a minute, then take them out and hang them up again. Of course, the more sunlight and ventilation the better. It would be very nice to put it in the courtyard.

There is no need to worry about the succulents being too crowded, because sphagnum moss does not retain water and the water evaporates very quickly. This will slow down the growth rate of the succulents, and they will consume water from their own leaves to survive, so they will not be too crowded in a short period of time (half a year).
