How to grow hydroponic cactus

How to grow hydroponic cactus

1. Suitable temperature

Whether it is hydroponics or soil culture, suitable temperature is necessary. For cactus, the temperature range it is suitable for is relatively wide. It can grow as long as the temperature is between 5-30℃. If the temperature falls below this lower limit in winter, anti-cold measures must be taken.

2. Adequate light

It likes light, and hydroponics is no exception. However, scattered light is sufficient; too strong light is also not good.

3. Regular water changes and pruning

For hydroponic plants, changing water is a very important step. Generally speaking, you can change it every ten days to half a month in winter, and once a week in other seasons, but the interval can be shortened appropriately in summer. When changing the water, you need to clean the container, remove any moss growing in it, and clean off any mucus. The next step is to prune the roots and cut off the rotten and aging roots. Also pay attention to the amount of water. It is enough to cover one-half to two-thirds of the root system, not all of it.

4. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

First is the nutrient solution. You can add a few drops after each water change, but not too much. Then there is foliar fertilizer, which can also be applied in appropriate amounts once a week. Doing so can not only provide sufficient nutrients to the leaves, but also make the leaves look more shiny. And in winter, it also helps to keep out the cold.
