The money tree is a common ornamental green plant. During its growth process, it needs to be repotted. As the plant grows, the root system becomes larger and larger, so it needs to be changed from a small pot to a large pot for maintenance. So how do you change the small pot of the Money Tree into a big one? Let’s take a look with the editor below. 1. Choose a flower pot Depending on the growth of the money tree, choose a flower pot that is slightly larger than the original pot to ensure that the plant has enough space to grow. The material of the new pot should have good air permeability and drainage, such as a ceramic pot or a plastic pot, and there should be drainage holes at the bottom. 2. Prepare the soil The money tree likes loose, breathable and well-drained soil. You can use a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil, river sand, perlite, etc., and add an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer as base fertilizer. Such soil can provide sufficient nutrients while keeping the roots breathing smoothly. 3. Remove from the basin Before repotting, stop watering for a few days to allow the soil to dry out slightly so that it is easier to remove from the pot. Gently tap the bottom and sides of the pot with your hands to separate the soil from the pot. If the money tree is clinging to the pot, you can use a knife to gently cut the side of the pot, then hold the main stem of the plant to remove it from the pot. 4. Root pruning After removing the money tree from its old pot, gently shake off the soil on the roots. Check the roots carefully and prune away any that are rotten, dry, or diseased. After pruning, disinfect the roots with carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution to prevent infection by pathogens. 5. Fill the pot with soil Place a layer of drainage gravel or expanded clay in the bottom of the new pot to improve drainage. Then pour a layer of prepared soil as subsoil. Place the money tree in the center of the pot, allowing the plant's roots to spread out naturally. Fill the pot with the remaining soil and pat the soil lightly with your hands so that it fits tightly with the roots. Be careful not to leave gaps to avoid water leaking when watering. 6. Lighting Place the repotted money tree in a cool, ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight. After the plant adapts to the new environment, gradually move it to a place with sufficient light for maintenance. 7. Water and fertilizer management Do not water immediately after repotting. Wait for about 5 days to allow the roots of the money tree to adapt to the new environment and then water it thoroughly again. After that, water according to the dryness of the soil, keeping the soil moist but not too wet. During the vigorous growth period after repotting, you can apply thin liquid fertilizer every once in a while to provide sufficient nutrients to support plant growth. The above is an introduction on how to change the small pot of the money tree to a larger one. The best time to change the pot is usually in spring or autumn. The temperature and humidity conditions in these two seasons are more suitable for the growth and recovery of the plant. Avoid changing the pot in extremely high or low temperature weather.
