How to grow spider plants more vigorously

How to grow spider plants more vigorously

1. Loose soil

In order to make spider plants grow vigorously, loose, fertile, and well-permeable soil is needed. Generally, you can mix leaf mold, garden soil and river sand in a 1:1 ratio; or mix peat and perlite in a 1:1 ratio, and mix an appropriate amount of decomposed organic fertilizer into the soil.

2. Suitable flower pots

Chlorophytum has fleshy roots, so it requires the soil in the pot to be moist, but not waterlogged. It is not recommended to use a pot that is too large to plant it, as the water will not dry out quickly. It is more ideal to plant it in a pot with a diameter of 15 to 20 cm.

3. Reasonable lighting

Chlorophytum likes scattered light. Too strong or too weak light in a semi-shady environment is not conducive to the growth of Chlorophytum.

4. Proper watering

Chlorophytum has mutated fleshy roots that have swollen into radish shapes. Be careful to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, and do not let the pot become too dry or allow water to accumulate in the pot. In addition to the requirements for moisture in the potting soil, there are also requirements for humidity. If the surrounding air humidity is too dry, the plant will appear dry.

5. Scientific fertilization

Chlorophytum has relatively high requirements for fertilizer. Normally, it should be fertilized with thin liquid fertilizer once every ten days to half a month. The plant needs to be repotted every one or two years by removing old soil, rotten roots, and dead roots, and replacing them with new soil to meet its growth needs.

6. Suitable temperature

Chlorophytum needs to grow at an ideal temperature. Generally speaking, 10 to 25 degrees is the suitable temperature for its growth. Too low or too high temperature will inhibit normal growth.
