How to grow geranium

How to grow geranium

1. Water

Geranium likes semi-dry soil and cannot accumulate water. If it rains continuously, it must be placed in a rain-proof environment, otherwise the roots will easily rot. When caring for the plant, make sure to water it thoroughly when it is completely dry, especially in hot seasons. Do not water too much as this will easily cause root rot.

2. Potting soil

When planting, you should choose breathable flower pots, such as clay pots, tile pots, and ceramic pots. Try to mix the soil with peat, perlite or sand, and make sure it has good drainage, which is conducive to its growth.

3. Fertilization

Geranium does not need too concentrated fertilizer during its growth process. Its root system is very weak and thin. You can add a little thin light fertilizer water to the water when watering. Do not water too much, and do not apply concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer, which will cause root rot. When applying fertilizers, pay attention to the content of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and do not use too much nitrogen fertilizer.

4. Ventilation

During the hot summer season, be sure to place it in a shaded and ventilated environment, otherwise it will easily rot and die.

5. Pruning

Yellow leaves may appear during the growth process. As long as the number is not large, it is normal renewal and we can pick it off in time. The branches that have bloomed should be pruned in time so that the buds behind them can sprout again, allowing new flowers to bloom and extend the flowering period.

6. Temperature

As long as the temperature is not below 0℃ in winter, it can survive the winter normally.
