How to grow succulents

1. Water

When caring for succulents, the principle of water management should be to water when the soil is dry. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering, and water thoroughly. Do not water halfway. If there is powder, hair or wrinkles on the leaves, it is not recommended to water them directly. The best way is called sitting water, which is to soak the plant in water, let the drainage holes at the bottom of the flowerpot absorb water upwards, so that there is moisture in the lower part of the flowerpot so that its roots will grow downwards.

2. Lighting

Succulent plants need sufficient light and also need moderate protection from light during the high temperatures in summer. There are two types of succulents: one type is called summer succulents, which grow in the summer and hibernate in the winter; the other type is winter succulents, which hibernate in the summer and grow in the winter. Therefore, when buying succulents, you must make it clear that it is best to grow succulents of the same type together. Summer-type succulents can be given normal water during the growing season, and they almost do not need to be watered in the winter when they are dormant. Even if they need to be watered, it will be very little. The corresponding winter-type succulents also need to be deprived of water in summer, so you must make it clear when choosing.

3. Soil

Succulent plants require loose soil with good drainage. Peat plus perlite or river sand can be used, or coal slag from honeycomb coal balls. As long as the particles are of sufficient size and the drainage is good, they can be used to grow succulents. The fertilizer level in the soil is not high.

4. Temperature

Pay attention to wintering during maintenance. Generally speaking, many succulents can tolerate temperatures around zero degrees, and the increased temperature difference between day and night will greatly help the coloring of the leaves, so if the temperature is not too low, there is no need to worry too much. Proper protection is needed when the temperature is below zero. Different varieties have different requirements for overwintering temperatures. Meeting the minimum requirements for overwintering can help them overwinter normally.
