How to raise Hongyun Dangtou

1. Temperature

The growth of the lucky charm plant requires high temperatures. Generally speaking, in the winter and spring in the north, the maintenance temperature should be above 15℃. At 10℃, its flower buds, bracts and leaves will become dull; below 5℃ it will be frostbitten, and at 0℃ it will be frozen. It needs a relatively high temperature, the ideal temperature is between 20-25℃, and it will grow faster.

2. Water

The lucky plant needs high humidity to grow and has special requirements for water. It requires very humid air, but the potting soil is not suitable for long-term waterlogging. When watering, in addition to watering the soil around the flowerpot, you must also allow the leaves to store water from the center. The leaves can accumulate rainwater from the center to ensure their own water supply. When watering, even if the soil in the pot is dry, the center of the leaves must retain moisture. When there is no water in the center of the leaves, the leaves will curl inward. We must replenish water from the inside of the leaves in time.

3. Lighting

The ones purchased on the market are basically grown in greenhouse shade sheds, so they should be placed indoors in bright scattered light and not exposed to strong sunlight. Some varieties that need to be maintained in the sun are generally relatively difficult to find in the market.

4. Fertilization

Generally speaking, the lucky charm plant we buy is already in bloom, and enough fertilizer has been mixed into the potting soil to meet its normal flowering needs, so when we maintain it indoors, there is basically no need to fertilize it.

5. Flowering period

There is a characteristic of bromeliads such as the lucky charm plant, which basically only blooms once in its lifetime and dies after the flower fades. However, its roots will send out new buds, which will grow and bloom again. So basically, the flowers bought at the flower market are ones that need to be maintained once. It will take a lot of energy to maintain those buds and make them bloom later.
