Environmental requirementsSpring orchid prefers a cool, semi-shady and semi-sunny environment. It does not require much fertilizer, but has high requirements for moisture. It grows well in an environment with a large temperature difference between day and night. The most ideal place in the northern region is of course an outdoor enclosed balcony. With appropriate environmental modifications and the installation of shade, humidification and ventilation equipment, spring orchids will grow very healthily. But if you let it roam free, it generally won't grow very well. Orchid seedling selectionFirst, you need to compare the environment at home and choose orchid seedlings with similar environments to avoid excessive environmental differences affecting their growth. It is best not to choose seedlings. You can choose orchid seedlings that have been growing in the transition garden for a year. They have large roots, many broad and thick leaves, and strong growth. Such orchid seedlings are easier to maintain when you buy them home. Old seedlings that are more than three years old are not recommended. Be careful of pulled seedlings. Consult the merchant carefully when purchasing. Farming methodsSoil: Newly potted plants should choose clean soil with fine particles. Planting stone has strong water retention ability and is an ideal planting material for cultivating high-end spring orchids. It is mixed with granular humus soil and covered with sphagnum moss on the pot surface to keep it moist. After the orchid plants adapt to the environment, gradually increase the humus content. Fertilization: Spring orchids require little fertilizer and are best grown in clean and moist conditions. Do not apply heavy fertilizer unless the seedlings are strong, and do not maintain dry land unless the seedlings are strong. Reduce water in summer, keep moisture in autumn, and transform in winter and spring: The temperature is higher in summer and water evaporates a lot, but you cannot water without restraint. Appropriate water reduction is needed, which is more conducive to the growth of spring orchids. The weather is dry in autumn, so you should pay attention to moisturizing. In the north, there is heating indoors in winter, which is not conducive to the growth of spring orchid buds. The flowers should be moved to the outdoor balcony and the temperature should not be controlled too high. Divide pots: Spring orchids that grow in the high temperature and high humidity environment of the south consume very little nutrients when flowering, have a high germination rate, and can germinate 3-4 times a year . Due to insufficient nutrient reserves and excessive consumption for seedling growth, the weeds grow back quickly in the dry environment of the north. The germination rate of newly introduced spring orchids is usually very high in the first year, but this does not mean that they have adapted to the new environment. After 2-3 years of cultivation , the biological clock will adjust to the new environment and gradually stabilize. Therefore, 1-2 years after introduction, old and weak seedlings should be removed in time to reduce consumption and promote the growth of strong seedlings. |
