How to divide the pot of the fortune tree

How to divide the pot of the fortune tree

1. Pre-maintenance

If you have just bought a money tree, you cannot divide it into pots directly, because it needs a period of time for the seedlings to grow. If you forcibly divide it at this time, the leaves will wither and even the roots will be damaged. So it’s not too late to divide the pot after it adapts to the environment.

2. Prepare the potting soil

Before potting it, choose a suitable pot, and then choose loose and fertile sandy loam, which can be made of garden soil, river sand or sawdust. And you can also add decomposed bean cake as base fertilizer for potting soil during preparation.

3. Carry out division

Separate the extra plants from the original pots, then gently tap off the old soil at the roots. Except for some difficult-to-remove soil, all other soil should be cleaned up. Then trim the roots appropriately and cut off dead and rotten roots to keep the roots healthy.

4. Planting in pots

After division, the extra plants can be planted in new pots. Before planting, spread a layer of soil on the bottom of the pot, then place it upright in the middle of the pot, and slowly fill it with soil. During the filling process, do not damage the roots to prevent root infection. At the same time, no gaps should be left, otherwise the plant will become unstable and prone to water leakage.

5. Maintenance and growth

After dividing the pots, place them in a ventilated place and water them once after five days. Then after another week, it will adapt to the new potting soil and can be maintained normally.
