What to do if the bulbs are rotten or frostbitten?

How to deal with bulb rot

When storing plant bulbs, pay attention to indoor ventilation and try to avoid a storage environment that is too humid and the temperature is too high. Such an environment can easily cause the plant bulbs to be infected with bacteria and cause rot. Some may also develop dry rot, especially daffodil bulbs. The daffodil plants grown from dry rotted bulbs will be very short and will soon wither and die. Diseased bulbs must be removed promptly to prevent the spread of rot.

When planting bulbous plants, be sure not to overwater, as this can easily cause the bulbs to rot. When bulb rot occurs, first remove the rotten skin and roots. Apply wood ash to the root bulbs and let them dry. After treatment, plant the bulbs in the spring of the following year. Avoid overwatering, just keep the soil slightly moist.

How to deal with frostbite

Once the bulbs are frozen, they will cause root rot, and it will spread very quickly. If most of them are infected, there is no way to treat it and it can only be dealt with as soon as possible. Once frostbite and bulb rot occur, if it starts from the center, there is no way to save it. If it rots from the outside to the inside, it can still be rescued. We need to remove the rotten part and just keep the central bud point in the center of the bulb. If the central bud point of the bulb is kept, the bulb can still be planted.
