1. Pruning time

It enters a period of vigorous growth in the summer, so the best time to prune it is from March to April. The temperature is just right now, and the plant is about to sprout new buds. In addition, after pruning it in this season, it can grow new branches and leaves in the shortest time.

2. Prepare pruning tools

When pruning it, in addition to choosing the right pruning time, you also need to prepare appropriate pruning tools. Gardening shears are usually the best. Never use ordinary scissors to avoid the blade not being sharp enough, making the cut uneven when pruning, making it easy for bacteria to invade.

3. Add fertilizer

After cutting off the dead and old branches, it will soon grow new branches again, which will consume a lot of nutrients, so sufficient nutrients are very important for it. We can apply thin liquid nitrogen fertilizer to it for 2 to 3 days before pruning to ensure that it has enough nutrients.

4. Prune branches and leaves

When pruning it, mainly cut off those overgrown branches and weaker branches, and then leave 3 to 4 buds at the base of those branches that grow well, otherwise it will affect the growth of new branches in the later stage. In addition, if it grows very well, you can thin it out appropriately to leave sufficient growing space between the plants, which not only allows it to grow freely, but also serves the purpose of ventilation and light transmission.
