How and when to plant sunflowers

How and when to plant sunflowers

1. Planting time

It can be planted in spring, summer and autumn, but mostly in spring. If it is in the southern region, you can choose to sow in mid-April. If it is in the further south or the north, you can adjust the time appropriately, as long as the average temperature is around 18 degrees.

2. Planting Method

1. Planting

Sprinkle the seeds evenly in the soil, keep the temperature above 20 degrees, and they will germinate in about 10 days.

2. Planting seedlings

When the seedlings grow to a certain height, they can be transplanted. If you want to grow them in soil, the plants do not need to be transplanted with soil, and they do not need to be watered frequently during the growing period. And control the spacing between plants and rows, and apply liquid fertilizer several times during the period. Also remember that when the fruit is about to crack, you need to harvest the seeds in time, otherwise they will scatter. If it is potted, the transplanting method is the same as that for soil cultivation.

3. Watering

Watering depends on the condition of the soil in the pot. Generally, if it is not dry, there is no need to water it. If you need to water it, you must water it thoroughly at one time.

4. Apply fertilizer correctly

It does not require much fertilizer. It only needs to apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every half a month. This will make its flowers larger and brighter, and the flowering period will also be longer.

5. Lighting

It likes places with lots of sunlight, so it must be exposed to more sunlight when it grows so that it can grow lush and prosperous.

6. Temperature

It likes warm places, and the best germination temperature is 21 to 24 degrees. In this way, seedlings will grow in about a week.
