How to grow peony flowers

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When growing peonies, try to use loose soil with good drainage. The pH value of the soil should be neutral, slightly acidic or slightly alkaline.

2. Water: Don’t water too much during normal times. The temperature will be very low in winter, so you can stop watering. Generally, watering should be done after the soil is completely dry to avoid water accumulation and root rot.

3. Light: Peonies like light but cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. It should be given plenty of sunlight at ordinary times, and shaded when the sun is scorching in summer.

4. Temperature: The peony should be given a growing environment of 16-20℃. It is very afraid of the cold, so it needs to be kept warm when the weather is cold in winter.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Propagation by division: Use a three-year-old plant as the mother plant, remove it from the soil, and dry it in the sun for 1-2 days. Each part of the divided plant must have a complete root system and retain tiller buds. After division, plant it upright and compact the soil.

2. Cutting propagation: Select strong branches, insert them into sandy soil and pour appropriate amount of water, then cover with a layer of film to keep warm.

3. Common pests and diseases

One of the most common diseases of peonies is brown spot, so preventive measures must be taken. Spray carbendazim or Bordeaux mixture once every half a month after flowering, cut off the diseased leaves before winter, and spray lime sulfur mixture appropriately before germination.
