What will happen to succulents after being exposed to rain?

Rainwater is generally slightly acidic, which not only regulates the pH value of the soil, but also washes away the dust on the leaves, which is very beneficial to succulents.

After the rain, the succulents in the flowerpots immediately became fresh and green. Transparent water droplets hang on the flesh, light and clean, and so watery and beautiful!

Very fat, very plump, and very delicious! I envy the meat fans in the cheating area!

Under what circumstances are succulents suitable for being exposed to rain?

1. Extreme water shortage

When succulents are very short of water, you can safely let them get wet in the rain. Rainwater contains rich oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur compounds, etc., which are very beneficial to the growth of succulents. As long as the soil is breathable and has good drainage, there is no need to worry about the risk of rain.

2. Succulents in the seedling stage

When succulents are in the seedling stage, they need water very much. Generally, they are not afraid of waterlogging and rotting, and can be exposed to rain without hesitation.

3. Cool weather

In breezy and cool weather, you can let your succulents get soaked in the rain. Succulents need a well-ventilated environment to grow. As long as ventilation is maintained after rain, there will not be any major problems.

Under what circumstances can succulents not be exposed to rain?

1. Hot and humid weather or strong sunshine after rain

The soil will be very moist after the rain. If the next day is hot and humid, the moisture will be difficult to dissipate, making it easy for the succulents to rot. If the next day is extremely sunny, water droplets will remain on the surface of the succulent, and the refraction of light will be very strong, so the leaves can easily get sunburned.

2. Continuous rainy weather

Even if there is continuous rainy weather, succulents should not be exposed to rain. On the one hand, too much rain will easily cause water accumulation and root rot; on the other hand, too much moisture and poor ventilation will cause the leaves to rot easily.

3. Leggy, weak or sick succulents

The leggy growth of succulent plants is mostly caused by insufficient light and excessive watering. If they are exposed to rain, they will only become more leggy. Delicate and sick succulent plants can easily die after being exposed to rain.

4. Succulents with dense leaves

For some succulent varieties, the leaves are arranged closely, such as Thousand Buddha Hands and Huangli. After raining, water droplets are easily trapped between the leaves, breeding bacteria, causing black spots and waterlogging.

What should I do if succulents are exposed to too much rain?

After being exposed to rain, the most worrying thing is black rot and waterlogging. So if the succulents are accidentally exposed to too much rain, how can they be rescued?

1. Water absorption

First, use toilet paper or something absorbent to absorb the water in the succulent core, and then keep it ventilated. Be sure to keep the succulents well ventilated after the rain! No ventilation = high humidity, high humidity + high temperature = black rot/waterlogging!

2. Clean up the stagnant water

No matter what the circumstances are, it is taboo to have water accumulation in the pot, so you must clean up the accumulated water in the pot as soon as possible to avoid root rot!

3. Clean the blades

After being rained on, the outer circle of succulent leaves are generally easy to melt. If you find any melting leaves, pick them off directly and then use non-water-retaining particles, such as medical stone, to pave the surface. Try not to let the leaves touch the soil directly.
