Can the leaves of the fortune tree be planted alive?

Can the leaves of the fortune tree be planted alive?

1. Reasons

The scientific name of the money tree is Pachira aquatica, which is a tree plant. Its reproduction is mainly by sowing and cuttings. The cutting method is often carried out using branches, and leaf cutting propagation is theoretically feasible. Some flower lovers have tried it successfully, but overall the survival rate of leaf cuttings is low.

2. Cutting method

Hydroponics: Cut off the leaves with sterilized scissors, wait for callus tissue to grow on the wound, and then put it in water. Do not fill the bottle to the brim, and change the water every three days.

Soil culture: Use sterilized scissors to cut the leaves and store them in a cool and ventilated place. After the wound heals and callus tissue grows, insert the bottom 1/3 of the leaf into the soil. If conditions permit, you can apply rooting powder on the wounds on the leaves. After the cuttings are completed, place the seedlings in a cool place for 1-2 weeks to acclimate, and after the plants grow roots, carry out normal maintenance.
