How to transplant a kapok tree

How to transplant a kapok tree

Specific process

Digging holes: This step has strict requirements. First, determine the specific planting location based on the design drawings, draw a circle with the specified radius using this point as the center, and then you can officially start excavation. After digging, you can proceed to the next step. However, if the soil is poor, you can first spread a layer of base fertilizer on the bottom.

Planting: The best time to plant is in winter, because the plants are dormant at this time and various factors are easier to control. Then, we need to gently hang the plant at an angle and place it in the hole we have dug in the first step, remove the rope wrapped around the plant, stand the plant up and straighten it. Next, we need to observe the overall shape of the tree in relation to its surroundings in order to adjust its orientation. Finally, it’s time to fill the soil. After filling, water it thoroughly.

Support: The trunk of the plant must be upright and needs appropriate support, such as a triangular support. No matter what kind of support, the bracket must be firm.

Post-management

Water: Water thoroughly once a day after transplanting. Then, observe whether the plant is upright. If not, straighten and fix it in time. After that, water it three times. Make sure to wait until it is completely dry before watering again, and water it thoroughly each time.

Insulation: Because we chose winter and the plants are not very cold-resistant, we must pay special attention to the temperature. A more common method is to wrap straw ropes around the trunks and main branches of the plants to protect them from frost. However, be careful not to make the rope too tight, otherwise it will hinder the plant's breathing. Of course, you can also apply special agents on the tree trunks.

Prevention and control of diseases and pests: The plants have just been transplanted and their resistance will be relatively weak. Therefore, it is necessary to make preparations and strengthen prevention at this time.
