How to care for papaya trees

1. Soil

When growing papaya trees, you must use fertile, well-drained sandy soil. Neutral or slightly alkaline soil is best.

2. Watering

It needs sufficient water to grow, but there should not be any stagnant water. If there is water accumulation in the soil for a long time, it will cause root rot. Drainage should be done in time during the rainy season. Autumn is its peak fruit-bearing period, so water it frequently.

3. Fertilization

When applying fertilizer, you should follow the principle of applying thin fertilizers frequently. Do not apply too much fertilizer at one time. Generally, apply quick-acting fertilizers every 10-15 days. Heavy fertilizers can be applied before and after budding to help flower buds form, mainly nitrogen fertilizers.

4. Lighting

Adequate sunlight is not only beneficial to the growth of papaya trees, but also affects the sweetness of the fruit. It is best to place it in a south-facing place. When the light is weak in winter, it is best to receive full-day sunlight.
