How to water cyclamen

How to water cyclamen

1. Growth habits

Cyclamen likes moisture and has a high demand for water. If not provided with enough water, its root hairs will be damaged and its leaves will wilt. However, the water should not be too much. If there is too much standing water, the roots may rot.

2. Principles of watering

Generally speaking, it’s “see dry and see wet”. Check the dryness or wetness of the soil in the pot to determine whether to water it. Water again when the soil in the pot is dry. When watering, water thoroughly.

3. Specific watering method

(1) When the plant is first potted, do not add too much water. Just water it lightly and keep it slightly moist.

(2) In spring and autumn, the plants are in their peak growth period, so the demand is high. Therefore, generally speaking, you need to water it thoroughly every one to two days. When the weather is very hot, you can also spray some water appropriately.

(3) In summer and winter, the amount required is less. Summer is a dormant period when growth stops. In winter, the temperature is low and the growth rate is slow, so the demand is low. During these two stages, you don’t need to water the plants, but you can’t water them too much either.

4. Notes

(1) The timing of watering should also be mastered. It is best to do it in the morning or evening, not at noon. But don't worry in winter, you can do it at noon.

(2) Summer is the rainy season. The plant is dormant, so don't let it get wet from rain.
