How to grow Clivia

How to grow Clivia

1. Fertilization

It grows very fast in winter and needs a lot of nutrients at this time, so it is necessary to fertilize it in time. Before moving the flower pot into the room, you need to apply some compound fertilizer to it. After that, you can water it once every half a month or so, and apply thin fertilizer frequently to prevent fertilizer damage to the plant.

2. Watering

Its roots are fleshy and very afraid of waterlogging. In addition, the temperature in winter is relatively low and the water evaporates very slowly, so you cannot water it too much. You only need to water it once when you fertilize it. Never use a lot of water, otherwise the roots of the plant will rot.

3. Insulation

It likes to grow in a warm environment, with the best temperature being between 15 and 25 degrees. If it is below 10 degrees, its growth will be inhibited, and if it is below 0 degrees, frost damage will occur. So be sure to keep it warm in time in winter. Then, after the flower stems grow out, keep the temperature at around 18 degrees. If the temperature is too high, it will affect the flowering period and leaves, but the temperature cannot be too low, otherwise it will cause it to bloom early and affect the viewing experience.

4. Dimming

It likes scattered light very much and is afraid of strong light. If you keep it indoors in winter, it is best to place it in a sunny place. Especially before it blooms, it is necessary to ensure sufficient light so that the flower buds can develop better. Then after flowering, you can lower the temperature appropriately, avoid strong light exposure, and ensure ventilation, which can prolong the flowering period.

5. Leaf protection

Its leaves are relatively large, its flowers are bright, and its ornamental value is high, so when maintaining it, you need to protect its leaves. First, you need to clean its leaves regularly to ensure that the leaves are clean. Secondly, spray it with disease prevention medicine in time to prevent the occurrence of diseases. This will keep the leaves green.
