When do lotus leaves wither?

When do lotus leaves wither?

1. When will it wither?

Its leaves naturally wither away between October and November. It grows new leaves in March and April and begins to bloom from May to August. A flower can last for two to five days, and fruits are produced after flowering. By October or November, the stems and leaves begin to wither. Wait until the spring of the following year to start a new life.

If it is in the Yangtze River area, it will grow leaves from late March to early April, flowers from late April to early May, bloom from June to August, the leaves turn yellow from October to November, and it will temporarily stop growing after November. It usually grows in lakes and can be seen in many parks.

2. Growth habits

It grows in water, and in water with little flow, which is its favorite place. Different varieties have different water requirements. Larger ones require deeper water, such as the red snapper, but not higher than 1.7 meters. Relatively smaller species only require 20 to 60 centimeters of water, and this type is suitable for keeping at home.

It cannot leave water. If you keep it at home, if you don't add water for more than three hours in summer, its leaves will wither. If there is no water for the whole day, the leaves will burn and the flowers will wither. It loves sunlight and cannot leave the sun during its entire growth process, and it does not like shady places.

3. Maintenance Tips

1. Water

In the early stages of its growth, the water cannot exceed three centimeters, because if it is too deep, the temperature of the bottom soil will be difficult to maintain. If you are not using clean water, you need to dry it in the sun for a day or two. Summer is the time when it grows the fastest. There must be no water in the tank, and it must be kept moist after winter.

2. Fat

It requires phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and only very little nitrogen fertilizer. If the soil quality is very good, no fertilizer is needed for the whole year. You can add animal manure to it, but not too much, and mix it with the soil. When winter comes, you should move it inside the house or bury it in the soil.
