How to repot dianthus

How to repot dianthus

1. How to replace the new basin

1. First, use a sharp tool to draw a circle on the edge of the pot. It is best to make it deeper to help the soil ball break away from the pot as a whole. If the roots on the soil ball are very developed, it means that the nutrients in the original pot have been almost absorbed.

2. Then gently break up the root ball and slowly remove the original soil. You can also wash it off with water to make the roots fully visible. Then, depending on the condition of the roots, remove the rotten or old roots. Remove the messy and diseased branches inside it. It can help the leaves reduce water evaporation, recover as quickly as possible, and make the crown more beautiful. If you put it in a new pot without pruning it, it may lose its leaves or even not grow new branches for a long time because its root system is damaged when the new pot is replaced.

3. Prepare a pot with holes at the bottom, cover the holes with gauze, or put some coarse pebbles on it to prevent the holes from being blocked by soil when watering it. This can help with drainage and prevent root rot. It can also allow the air in the pot to be renewed more quickly, making it easier for the roots to breathe.

4. Pour soil into the pot to one-third of its height. It is best to use a mixture of culture soil and ordinary garden soil, and add a little nitrogen fertilizer to help the leaves grow. Put the trimmed plant in, and there should be a gap of two to three centimeters between it and the edge of the pot. Then fill the gap with organic soil, and finally water it thoroughly at one time, and the whole repotting is completed.

2. Daily maintenance

1. The temperature suitable for its survival is between 15 and 20 degrees. In winter, it should be placed in a warm room with a temperature above 12 degrees. It should be given sufficient light during its growth period. In summer, it is best to have diffuse light, not direct sunlight. It should be shaded appropriately to reduce the temperature.

2. If it grows to 10 cm high, it needs to be transplanted.

3. If you sow in autumn, you need to protect it from frost in November. During the growing period, you need to apply animal manure or cake fertilizer two or three times.

4. If you want it to grow more flowers, you can pinch it to facilitate the growth of more branches. You should also remove the axillary buds in time to reduce the loss of nutrients. After pruning it, it will bloom again.
