How to plant morning glory seeds

Time for sowing morning glory: Morning glory is suitable for sowing in early spring from March to April. It can be sown earlier in the southern region and later in the northern region.

Method of sowing morning glory: Morning glory can be sown directly in the open field or in a shallow pot. When the seedlings grow out, they can be pulled up with thin ropes to make various flower stands and bonsai. Sow 5-7 seeds in the pot, cover with about 0.5 cm of soil, keep the soil moist, and seedlings will grow in about 10 days. After half a month, remove the weak seedlings and keep the strong ones, and keep 3-4 morning glory seedlings. Pinch the seedlings when they are 8-10 cm tall to promote more branches and flowering.

How to harvest morning glory seeds

Morning glory blooms in July and begins to wither when the weather turns cold. The seeds can be harvested in October when the seed pods become dry and brown. Each seed pod contains 3-4 black seeds. The seeds of morning glory of different colors are collected separately and sown in April of the following year. The collected seeds can be sealed and stored for 3-4 years.

How to plant morning glory

Morning glory is sown directly near the fence, with each plant being 30 cm tall, in a place that is sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, and has loose soil. When base fertilizer is insufficient, apply liquid fertilizer 1-2 times before flowering, water thoroughly when planting, and water once every 7-10 days.

When planting morning glory in a pot, put a little base fertilizer at the bottom of the pot and apply liquid fertilizer once a month. Do not allow water to accumulate in the pot during the rainy season to avoid root rot.
