When is the best time to sow cosmos?

When is the best time to sow cosmos?

1. When to plant

It is best to plant it at the beginning of spring, so that it will bloom in May of the same year, and the flowers will almost be finished in August. After the cool autumn, it will bloom again, and the flowering period will last until the frost. If you choose to plant it in August, it will not bloom until October, and the plant will appear very small at this time and will not be beautiful to watch. From this it can be seen that the best time to plant is in early spring.

2. How to sow

1. Preparation of seeds and potting soil

First, we put the seeds in a small plastic bag and then place it in a cool and dry place so that the seeds will not deteriorate easily. Then prepare a flowerpot of the right size, and then choose suitable garden soil and put it in it. When the sowing season comes, you can plant the seeds in it.

2. Planting

Sprinkle the prepared seeds in the potting soil one by one, and then cover them with a thin layer of soil to prevent the seeds from being washed away during subsequent watering. Next, water it thoroughly, place the flowerpot in a cool place and wait for it to sprout.

3. Post-maintenance

When caring for it, if the temperature needs to be controlled at 15 degrees, it will be easier to germinate and normally it will only take a week. After germination, we can place the flower pot in a lighted place, but do not let strong light shine directly on it. It is best to let it slowly adapt to the light. After that, water and fertilize it, but remember not to use too much to avoid affecting root growth. In the later stage, it is necessary to pinch the tips appropriately so that more flowers can bloom.
