How to prune Dutch chrysanthemums

How to prune Dutch chrysanthemums

1. Is it resistant to pruning?

For a plant of this type, it is very tolerant of pruning. This is because it has many branches. Then, resistance to pruning naturally becomes another of its characteristics. Therefore, when pruning, just feel free to do so without worrying about affecting its growth.

2. How many times a year should you prune?

Pruning can be done five times a year. However, the time is not chosen arbitrarily. We'd better prune it at a specific time. Do this four times during the growth period. Another time was when it was in full bloom.

3. Specific time

(1) The first pruning should preferably be done around June 10th.

(2) The second time may be around July 5th.

(3) The third time may be at the end of July.

(4) The fourth time can be at the end of August.

(5) The last pruning is during the National Day holiday. This time is relatively important. This is because, although its flowering period is relatively long, the overall ornamental effect is not particularly good. Only through pruning can the blooming time of its flowers be concentrated, making it more beautiful.

4. Specific methods

(1) You can re-cut the hair during the first two trimmings. In other words, you can cut off the top. In this way, more axillary buds can sprout and there will be more branches.

(2) During the next two trimmings, our main consideration was its appearance and shape. Prune according to the specific situation and make it look good. After trimming, it is best to make it look more coordinated.

(3) The last time, focus on controlling time. Because its flowering period is very short, sometimes only about a week. Therefore, we must seize the opportunity at this time.
