How to deal with Anthurium after flowering

How to deal with Anthurium after flowering

1. How long is the flowering period?

It belongs to the Araceae family. Its leaves will not turn yellow or fall off throughout the year, and it can bloom all year round. When it grows to a certain height, it will bloom in the leaf axils. Normally, after it blooms, each flower can bloom for about a month, and the most peculiar thing about it is that it can bloom all year round. The colors of the flowers are very gorgeous, very rich, and vary greatly.

Its flowers undergo a great change from bract to withering, being yellow at first, then creamy, then green, and finally yellow again before withering. The bracts also come in three colors: red, pink and white, and these characteristics are particularly attractive.

2. Post-flowering treatment

1. The most peculiar thing about its flowers and leaves is that they appear alternately. When a leaf grows, a flower will grow in its axil, so if some of its flowers wither, new flowers will grow.

2. After all its flowers have withered, it is best to remove the stems. First of all, the remaining stems will not only affect the appearance of the plant, but also consume some nutrients, which is not good for its growth. Moreover, when the flower stems turn yellow, they will cause erosion by pests and diseases.

3. Daily maintenance

1. Water it frequently, and it is best to alternate between dry and wet seasons. Control the water in late autumn and early spring, do not let too much water accumulate in the pot, and add compound fertilizer two or three times a month.

2. Change the pot every one to two years in early spring. Remove the old roots and replace the soil with new fertile soil. Put coarse sand at the bottom of the pot to help drain excess water.

3. It needs a temperature of 20 to 25 degrees to grow, and the temperature indoors should not be lower than 16 degrees in winter. In hot seasons, water the leaves and the ground two or three times a day to help increase humidity and reduce temperatures. In the summer, you need to use a shelter to shade it from the sun at noon. When the sunlight is weak in the evening and morning, you can let it see the light. In the winter, you should place it in a sunny area.
