What to do with hydroponic daffodils in spring

What to do with hydroponic daffodils in spring

Extend flowering period

Spring is the time when it blooms. At this time, you can add an appropriate amount of salt to the water, which can effectively prolong the flowering period, but it should be noted that it must be added before the flowers bloom. If you wait until the flowers bloom, it will have the opposite effect.

After flowering, bury the bulbs

When grown hydroponically, it will wither after flowering in spring. Many people think that it can no longer grow or bloom, so they choose to throw it away. However, if the bulbs are properly preserved, it will continue to grow. The specific method of preserving bulbs is as follows: when the flowers of the plant have all faded and the leaves have naturally withered, you can take the plant out of the water, remove all the dead leaves, leaving only the bulbs, then wipe off the water and bury them in the potting soil. This is very important, and you must not bury them in the soil with water. Note that it should be completely buried without any exposure. And the soil should have good air permeability. Wait until the next year when the daffodils can be planted, then dig them out and plant them.

Precautions

Try to wear plastic gloves during the operation, because the plant bulbs contain high levels of toxins, which can cause poisoning if accidentally ingested, and can even lead to shock in severe cases. If you are doing it by hand, be sure to clean it several times after you are done.
