How to grow the newly bought lucky bamboo in water

How to grow the newly bought lucky bamboo in water

1. How to water culture

1. Before inserting it into the glass bottle, cut off the leaves at the base of the cuttings, and at the same time cut a smooth bevel at the base to increase the contact surface with water to ensure the supply of water and nutrients. Lucky bamboo also has requirements for water quality. Tap water cannot feed it because there is oxygen in tap water. It is necessary to wait for the water to settle and the chloride concentration to decrease before it can grow. Generally, overnight tap water or boiled water can be used.

2. During the rooting period, change the water every three or four days on average. You can add a small charcoal for preservation. Do not move its position within ten days. Fibrous roots will grow after about half a month. Stop changing the water after roots grow, because it likes rotten water. Frequent water changes will cause the leaves to turn yellow or even the whole plant to wither. If the amount of water decreases, remember to replenish it in time.

3. After rooting, add a small amount of compound fertilizer to the water, usually once every three to four weeks. To prevent it from growing too tall, it is best to drop a few drops of brandy into the bottle every three weeks, and then add a small amount of nutrient solution to promote the greening of the leaves. If no fertilizer is added for a long time, its branches will become weak and the leaves will turn yellow.

4. When placing it, you should also pay attention to avoid wind and high temperature. It is best to keep it away from TV, air conditioner, and electric fan, otherwise the tip and edges of the leaves will dry out. Generally, it can grow well between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too low, it will cause frostbite. It likes shade, so avoid placing it near windows or balconies. In summer, be careful to avoid excessive light and cooling.

2. What to do with yellow leaves

For this phenomenon, we can start from two aspects: one is the water quality, observe whether the roots are fresh. If the root rot is due to poor water quality, it should be replaced with cold boiled water in time; the second is the light where the plant is placed. In an environment with dim light, hot and dry air, and poor ventilation, this will cause the leaves to turn yellow. Exposure to the sun and excessive light will also be the cause of the yellowing of the leaves.
