Breeding methods and precautions of Luhehong

Breeding methods and precautions of Luhehong

one. Breeding method:

1. Sunlight

Luhehong is afraid of sunlight exposure. Strong sunlight exposure in summer will cause the plant to stop physiological metabolism and enter a dormant state. Therefore, we can choose to provide it with appropriate shade when the sunlight is strong from June to August to prevent it from being sunburned.

2. Moisture

It does not require much water and prefers to grow in a relatively dry environment. This requires that we should not water it too much when maintaining it, and only water it after the soil is dry.

3. Flower soil

It likes relatively loose, nutrient-rich flower soil. Combined with its dry-loving nature, it is best for us to plant it in a loose, fertile, well-drained, shaded and ventilated place. It should not be planted in a place with severe waterlogging or thick, heavy soil. The soil ratio for planting flowers: 6 parts ordinary culture soil, 3 parts fertilizer soil, and 1 part slag ash.

two. Note:

1. Do not water too much

Luhehong does not require frequent watering. In summer, when the weather is hot and the ground is dry, you can water it moderately. Remember not to water it too much. In heavy rain and the rainy season, the accumulated water needs to be cleared to avoid poor development of its roots. In addition, in order for the flower soil itself to drain smoothly, the soil needs to be loosened three times a year.

2. Control fertilization

Luhehong is a new variety of peony. It does not require concentrated fertilizer. Apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer in winter. The base fertilizer needs to be covered with some culture soil to avoid direct contact between the fertilizer and its roots. After the flowers bloom, top dressing can be applied once because a lot of the flowers' own nutrients are consumed during flowering. No additional fertilizer is needed in other seasons.

3. Plant management

Before flowering, the buds of Luhehong need to be managed. Find the top buds of the main branches. If they are leaf buds, they should be removed. The leaf buds will grow vegetatively and absorb too many nutrients, which will affect the reproductive growth of the flower buds. After flowering, since the branches of Luhehong are too thin and fragile, if the flowers are too large and heavy, they will easily break in windy and rainy weather. You should pay attention to supporting the flowers in time with auxiliary materials such as wooden sticks and bamboo strips. If you do not need the seeds of Luhehong, remove the seed capsules after the flowers wither to prevent the seeds from absorbing extra nutrients.
