How to choose gardenia

How to choose gardenia

1. Basic characteristics of gardenia

First, let’s deepen our impression of gardenia, so that we can be confident when choosing it, right? Gardenia is native to China. It likes warm and humid environment and must ensure a certain amount of light to grow normally. It can tolerate severe cold and semi-shaded environment, but there cannot be stagnant water. It likes relatively fertile, acidic and loose soil. The twigs of gardenia are green, and the leaves grow symmetrically and are shiny in color. Its flowers are generally white with short pedicels, and its fruits are oblong and contain many seeds.

2. How to choose gardenia

1. First, we need to look at the roots. Some flower lovers may ask, the roots of gardenia are buried in the soil, how to see them? This is very simple. Generally, gardenias in the flower market are temporarily cultivated in soft black small pots. Just cut a small hole on the edge of the small pot and you can see the roots. If the roots you see are white and tender, you can proceed to the next step. If the roots you see are yellow and black, then you must choose again!

2. The next step is to look at the flower roots underneath. Just lift up the small flowerpot and see if there are any small white roots sticking out from the bottom. If so, then this pot of gardenia has already gone through a summer and can be considered. But if not, then this is just a newly planted seedling, don't consider it.

3. Finally, let’s look at the leaves. This is the simplest method. It mainly depends on whether there are withered leaves, yellowing leaves or rotten leaves. Be careful when looking at them and try not to miss any! If there is not a single diseased leaf, then you’re done. The roots and leaves are good, and this is a very good pot of gardenia!

Have you learned the above methods? I hope everyone can choose a satisfactory gardenia!
