How to grow purple calyx spur

How to grow purple calyx spur

1. Flower soil

This type of plant is afraid of waterlogging in the soil, so when choosing flower soil, you should choose sandy soil with a loose texture and easy drainage. You can choose two parts of loam, mix one part of peat soil and one part of sand to make flower soil for cultivation. In addition, in order to increase the fertility of the flower soil, some organic fertilizer can be added during the preparation process. If you use flower soil directly for planting, you can add a little sand to the soil to make it loose.

If leaves fall off during the cultivation process, it is generally because the flower soil is not permeable enough. This problem can be solved by improving the flower soil and helping its roots breathe normally.

2. Temperature

This plant has very low temperature requirements and can grow well in spring, autumn and summer. A winter with extremely cold weather may cause plants to stop growing, so they need to be kept warm. Generally speaking, if there are no problems with the plants, there is no need to worry about the temperature.

3. Water and Fertilizer

The water requirement is not high. Only when it is just planted, you need to keep the painting moist at all times. After that, you can change to watering once every 3-5 days, and it does not need to be too frequent. The fertilizer requirement is not high, and it can be done every ten days, with only a thin liquid fertilizer. As long as you pay attention to fertilizer and water management, it is easy to grow very well. If the plant grows too fast, the branches and leaves are too crowded, or the plant is too tall, you can choose to appropriately reduce the water and fertilizer conditions.

4. Lighting

This plant is very adaptable and can grow normally in a variety of sunlight conditions without requiring too much worry. If the plants receive less light for a long time, it will not be conducive to their growth, so supplementary light is needed to help them grow normally. At the same time, they need to be provided with light when the temperature is lower to ensure their growth.

5. Pruning

Since this plant grows quickly, it needs pruning. The first pruning should be done after planting, and you can also pinch the top to encourage more branching. Subsequent pruning can be done according to different situations. If the leaves are crowded or the plant is relatively tall, pruning can also be done.
