How to breed winter beauty

How to breed winter beauty

1. Leaf cutting propagation method

1. Blade selection

First, you need to pick a leaf from a mature winter beauty that is relatively healthy, free of pests and diseases, and looks relatively full. After selecting, do not pick it off forcefully. Instead, slowly pinch the base of the leaves and gently shake them left and right. This way you can minimize damage to the plant and pick the leaves intact.

2. Soil selection

The soil requirements for growing succulents are relatively strict. Winter beauty is very drought-resistant. It likes loose soil with good drainage and air permeability. It is usually made of peat, perlite and cinder mixed in a uniform proportion. In order to prevent the picked leaves from directly contacting the soil surface, a layer of granular river sand or pumice needs to be laid on top of it. Another benefit of doing this is that it can increase overall air permeability.

3. Lay the blades

After preparing the above steps, the last step is to spread the picked leaves on the soil. Then the leaves will slowly grow small roots and leaves, and finally become an independent small plant. Isn’t it very easy?

2. Cutting propagation method

The propagation method of cuttings is the same as the propagation method of beheading. Generally, when the winter beauty grows and develops to a certain period, the stem of the plant will grow a little longer. At this time, you can use the cutting method to propagate it. This is also beneficial for the winter beauty to maintain a good shape. The specific method is to insert the cut branches into another flowerpot. The soil preparation is the same as that for leaf cuttings. Just wait for a while and it will take root.

3. Post-maintenance

Winter beauty likes warm and relatively dry environment, and also needs sufficient light. In the hot summer, winter beauty can receive sunlight all day long. The best growth temperature for Winter Beauty is around 20 degrees Celsius. When watering, follow the principle of watering thoroughly when the soil is dry, and water when it is dry. Do not water in the middle, as this may cause the roots to rot. In summer, be sure to water the plants not too frequently.

The above are some ways to propagate Winter Beauty. It’s very simple, right? If you want to plant it, you can try planting one.
