How to make spring orchid bloom on New Year's Day

1. Flowering period

Spring orchid, as the name suggests, is an orchid that blooms in spring. Although it blooms in spring, it does not show its flowers exactly on New Year's Day. Its flowering period is much shorter than other types of flowers. Generally speaking, under normal circumstances, its flowering period is from February to March of the same year. It only has a flowering period of less than a month. So how can we make it bloom when we want to see it? This requires some tips. Next, I will tell you how to appreciate the graceful flowers of spring orchids on New Year's Day.

2. Flowering period regulation

Light factors

Most plants cannot grow without sunlight. But some plants don't like sunlight very much, so they don't need to rely too much on sunlight as a light source. Spring orchid is one of these plants. Spring orchid generally prefers to be in a cool environment. It is a negative plant and is not suitable to be exposed to too much sunlight under normal circumstances. In order to speed up its flowering, we provide it with appropriate shade, providing it with about 90 percent shade three months before it blooms. And lower the temperature to below 12 degrees, which will make it mistakenly think that it is a cold winter and enter the vernalization stage early. This will allow it to bloom almost a month earlier.

Temperature Factor

The right temperature can also greatly catalyze the growth rate of spring orchids. So what is the most suitable temperature for spring orchids? What temperature can speed up its flowering? Spring orchid does not like too high temperatures. When the temperature of its environment is higher than 15 degrees, its normal flowering will be greatly affected, almost to the point of stopping growth. The growth rate of spring orchid can reach its maximum at 5 to 10 degrees, and the flowering speed will be greatly accelerated within that range.
