How to water blood leaf orchid

How to water blood leaf orchid

1. The amount of watering

You can water it a little more in the summer, because if it lacks water in the summer, it will not grow well. Also, it only needs to be watered to 80% dry and 20% wet. When watering, we must water it thoroughly. We cannot water it halfway and leave the other half. Otherwise, its roots will not get enough nutrients to absorb, which will also be detrimental to its growth.

2. Watering frequency

The frequency of watering depends on the planting material in the pot. If it is some volcanic rock, pumice stone or other hard hydrophobic planting material, you can water it once a day. However, if the planting materials are pond soil, humus soil and other water-absorbent plants, you only need to water them every 2 to 3 days. Also, watering is usually done in the morning or evening. Never water at noon or directly in the morning.

3. Watering method

The commonly used method is spraying, which can not only increase the humidity in the air, but also wash away the dust on the leaves. However, this method is not suitable for blood orchids with hairs on the leaves or those that are in bloom. The entire pot should be placed in a basin of water, but the water should not submerge the mouth of the pot. Use the small holes at the bottom of the pot to seep water and keep the soil moist.

4. Pay attention to water temperature control

When watering, you must also control the temperature of the water. If the water temperature is very different from the soil temperature, that is, it is more than 6 degrees, then you can leave the water in the room for a while in winter, or you can add a little warm water to it, and let the water temperature rise to about 15 degrees before using it to water the flowers.

5. Watering time

In summer, never water the plants under the scorching sun or when the temperature is very high at noon. In spring, autumn and winter, the best time to water is around 10 am and after 4 pm.
