How to propagate Hypericum

How to propagate Hypericum

Reproduction method

There are three ways of propagation: cutting propagation, sowing propagation, and division propagation.

Cutting propagation

Breeding time: Summer, early spring or late autumn

Reproduction method: Choose tenderer cuttings, preferably with heels, so that the effect after cuttings will be better. This is the choice of cuttings for summer cuttings. If it is early spring or late autumn, choose harder branches for cuttings.

The length of the cuttings can be between 10 cm and 15 cm, but two complete leaves must be retained. Then insert them directly into the seedbed, leaving only 1/2. Keep the environment and the seedbed moist. Transplanting or planting can be carried out the following year.

Seed propagation

Breeding time: late March to early April.

Reproduction method: Choose disease-free plants to obtain seeds, and spread them evenly on the sand bed. Because the seeds are very small, they only need to be covered with a thin layer of soil. If this is not done well, it will directly affect the germination of the seeds. Small sprouts will appear in about 20 days, but the sand bed must be kept moist during this period. When the small sprouts grow to 5 cm to 10 cm, they can be transplanted and planted, and the flowers can be enjoyed from June to July of the following year.

Propagation by division

Breeding time: February to March

Reproduction method: Select tenderer branches, preferably with heels. After cutting them off, you can directly insert them into the soil. When the height grows to about 20 cm, you can transplant them. When they grow to about 70 cm, you can plant them. This method is very simple and particularly easy to survive.

Editor's reminder

No matter which propagation method you choose, you must be more careful in the subsequent maintenance. I believe the plant will grow well!
